SubmittalShop
For small subcontractors

You won the big job. We’ll handle the submittals.

Small shops of two to five people win large commercial and public projects, often in places where skilled trades are hard to find. Then the general contractor asks for dozens of submittals that meet the architect’s spec book. We prepare them for you, in any trade, at a flat price, so you can keep your crew working.

What we prepare

What we take off your plate

You don’t need a project manager or a document control person. Send us what you have, even if it’s just the spec sections and a supplier’s product list, and we turn it into packages the reviewer can approve.

Start

Find every required submittal

We read Division 01 and each spec section in your scope and list every submittal the job requires, so nothing surprises you later.

Products

Use your supplier’s selections

Already working with a supply house? We use their product list and pricing choices, then check each item against the spec.

Packages

Spec-checked product data

Exact models, options and accessories highlighted, with the spec requirements matched line by line.

Drawings

Shop drawings when required

When a section calls for drawings, we include them or tell you up front what needs an engineer.

Comments

Resubmittals

When a package comes back, we fix every comment and write the response. One round is included.

Closeout

O&M manuals and warranties

Closeout documents assembled at the end of the job so your retainage isn’t held up.

Section numbers follow CSI MasterFormat. Your project manual always governs: we build each package from its own Part 1 submittal requirements. Need another section? See the full CSI divisions list.

Every package we deliver includes

  • Transmittal cover sheet for every package, numbered by spec section and revision
  • Bookmarked, indexed PDF so reviewers can jump straight to each item
  • Line-by-line spec check against Part 2 (products) and the Part 1 submittal article
  • Marked-up product data: the exact model, size, options and accessories highlighted
  • Deviations listed up front, never buried, with the reason for each
  • RFI drafts when the drawings and specs conflict, instead of guessing
  • Resubmittals that answer every reviewer comment, one by one

Why small subcontractors’ submittals get sent back

  • Supplier packages built around what is being sold, not what the specification requires
  • Generic cut sheets with no model, options or accessories highlighted
  • Missing items the spec requires: carriers, trim, certifications, warranties, test reports
  • Substituted products with no comparison to the basis of design
  • No transmittal, no spec section reference and no contractor review
  • Packages sent late because nobody had time to put them together

More on this: common reasons submittals get rejected.

A recent request

Small plumbing contractor, South Dakota: all Division 22 submittals

A small plumbing contractor needed every Division 22 submittal for a project. They had asked their plumbing supply house for submittals, but a supplier's packages are built around the products being sold, not around the project's specification. The architect still expects each submittal to meet the spec section it belongs to.

This is the kind of job we are set up for: we take the supplier's product selections, check each item against the specification, fill the gaps, and deliver complete packages under the contractor's name.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with small companies?

Yes. Most of our clients are small subcontractors without a dedicated submittal person. There is no minimum volume and no retainer: you pay a flat price per package.

Our supplier already prepared submittals. Do we still need you?

Often, yes. Supplier packages are a good start, but they are built around the products being sold, not your project’s specification. We check them against the spec, add what is missing, and organize them the way the reviewer expects.

Do you only do plumbing?

No. We prepare submittals for every trade and CSI division: mechanical, electrical, fire protection, doors and hardware, finishes, steel, roofing and more.

Does it matter where the project is?

No. We work with subcontractors in all 50 states, and everything is delivered electronically.

How fast can you start?
