Structural and miscellaneous steel submittals

We prepare Division 05 submittal packages for fabricators, erectors and framing contractors: structural steel, metal deck, cold-formed metal framing, stairs, railings, ladders and miscellaneous metals, complete with the certifications and qualification documents the spec asks for.

What we prepare

Division 05 submittals we prepare

Steel packages carry more paperwork than most: material certifications, welder and fabricator qualifications, coating data and delegated-design calculations. We list every required document up front so nothing is missing when the reviewer opens the package.

05 12 00

Structural steel framing

Material and bolt certifications, AISC fabricator certification, welding procedure and welder qualification records, primer and coating data, and the shop and erection drawing set.

05 31 00

Steel decking

Deck profiles, gauges, finishes and section properties, fastening and side-lap patterns, closures and accessories, with fire-rated assembly listings when required.

05 40 00

Cold-formed metal framing

Stud and track data, connectors, and the delegated-design calculations and shop drawings the spec requires, with the engineer’s seal identified as a separate item.

Lintels, loose angles, embeds, ladders, bollards and supports for other trades, with finishes and anchorage shown.

05 52 00

Certificates & warranties

Inspection and testing coordination records, galvanizing certificates, touch-up procedures and warranty documents.

Section numbers follow CSI MasterFormat. Your project manual always governs: we build each package from its own Part 1 submittal requirements. Need another section? See the full CSI divisions list.

Every package we deliver includes

  • Transmittal cover sheet for every package, numbered by spec section and revision
  • Bookmarked, indexed PDF so reviewers can jump straight to each item
  • Line-by-line spec check against Part 2 (products) and the Part 1 submittal article
  • Marked-up product data: the exact model, size, options and accessories highlighted
  • Deviations listed up front, never buried, with the reason for each
  • RFI drafts when the drawings and specs conflict, instead of guessing
  • Resubmittals that answer every reviewer comment, one by one

Why steel submittals get sent back

  • Delegated-design items (stairs, railings, cold-formed framing) submitted without calculations or the required engineer’s seal
  • No AISC certification or welder qualifications when the spec requires them
  • Coating or galvanizing data missing, or primer not compatible with the specified finish paint
  • Bolt type or connection type that differs from the structural drawings without being called out
  • Railing infill or post spacing that does not meet the guard requirements shown on the drawings
  • Shop drawings that do not reference the contract drawing and detail numbers

More on this: common reasons submittals get rejected.

Frequently asked questions

Do you prepare steel shop and erection drawings?

We prepare and organize the Division 05 product, certification and qualification submittals and coordinate the shop drawing package. If you need detailing produced, tell us the scope when you request a quote and we will confirm what we can deliver and the schedule.

Do you provide engineering calculations or a PE stamp?

No. We are a document preparation service. When a section makes something a delegated-design item that needs a licensed engineer’s seal, we flag it when we quote, prepare everything around it, and coordinate with the engineer you or the manufacturer engage.

Can you handle Buy America requirements on steel?

Yes. On federally funded work we gather the mill certifications and manufacturer statements showing where the steel was melted and manufactured. See our page on Buy America (BABA) submittals.

How do you price steel submittals?

Per package or per spec section, as a flat number you approve before we start. Send the Division 05 spec sections and drawings and you will have a quote within 48 to 72 hours. One round of revisions for reviewer comments is included.

Send us your spec book. Get a flat quote in 48–72 hours.

No account, no software and no retainer. Tell us the sections you need and we price exactly that.
